Clutch drag has among its causes wear on the thrust face of the splines of the clutch inner drum preventing smooth disengagement
A recent trip to my local telescope and lapidary supply shop turned up these Diamond files in an assortment of grits. These were $15 for #240. A few minutes on each spline produce this result which while not perfect should improve clutch action for a few more miles. The inner hub pictured had done 27,000 miles
